About Mitchell Katz Winery

The Livermore Valley, one of California's oldest wine regions, has provided fertile ground for Mitchell to harvest his dream of hand making affordable, quality wines. The seeds of his vision were planted as a young teen, when Mitchell spent summers helping his grandfather, Reginald Lord, make hand crafted wines. Inspired to carry on the family heritage, Mitchell produced a bounty of award winning wines. He prides himself on using only the most pristine Livermore Valley grapes.

Mitchell Katz Winery has been a family affair from the beginning. With help from his wife, Alicia, production has grown to 8,000 cases a year. The winery was started in 1998 in memory of Mitchell's grandfather who passed at the age of 96. Mitchell also named one of his creations, a blended wine, after his youngest son, Wesley. Mitchell and Alicia consider their venture to be a living memorial to the man that devoted more than a half century to home winemaking.
